What is it?
Narrable is a storytelling software for educators in Kindergarten through 12th grade. It essentially is an online platform that allows students and educators to tie together photos, graphs, illustrations etc. with narration to teach something. It was founded by local Tulsan and entrepreneurial advocate, Dustin Curzon.
Storytelling, of course, predates writing and is a medium of which we humans have learned for as long as we’ve been around. There’s a quote by Jonathan Gottschall that goes, “We are, as a species, addicted to story. Even when the body goes to sleep, the mind stays up all night, telling itself stories.”
When did it launch?
The company launched in 2011 and has pivoted three times based on user feedback. When they first launched they thought people would use it to tell their families stories but as Dustin aptly stated, “We learned quickly the difference between want and need.” They then used the platform as a medium to help make sales for wedding photographers but soon began to be approached by educators and realized there was a real need there and have refocused the company on those needs.
